Richard Pennycuick mentioned Australian composer Peter Sculthorpe on
another string. I have a question for him and the rest of the list
regarding another. His name is Gareth Farr. Minnesote Public Radio's
St. Paul Sunday Morning had a string quartet on as guests, who played a
movement from Farr's string quartet (the odd name of which escapes me,)
but the name of the movement< was "Mondo Rondo." I found it to be filled
with wonderful humorous quirks and very enjoyable. I located his (very
weird) web page and e-mailed him to inquire if the entire quartet had been
recorded. It hadn't at that time (a year ago or so) but he said he hoped
to have it recorded in the near future. As far as I can tell, that piece
is still not available, but he does have several other albums out there.
Has anyone on the list heard his music? Any recommendations of other works
of his?
