Oddly enough I was just listening to Sokolov playing a Nocturne and
remembered that fabulous Opus111 disc and thought I should mention him
here.

And you beat me to it.  Sokolov is an extraordinary pianist, without a
doubt one of the greatest alive.  He won the 1966 Tchaikovsky competition,
but doesn't like to record.  His live CDs are, without exception (of the
ones I've heard) superb.
