Frans Frederic Eduard Brendler lived from 1800 to 1831. Born in Germany,
he and his parents moved to Sweden early in his life. Like his father,
Frans became a flautist; he also was a friend to Crown Prince Oscar.

Brendler composed the music to the opera "Ryno" (The King Errant)
during the last year of his life. Reportedly a social butterfly, Brendler
composed only eight of the opera's fourteen numbers before his death. The
opera was completed by the Crown Prince with the help of his music teacher,
Adolph Lindblad, who recently had a recording of symphonies issued by
Dacapo. Also, three dances were added by Du Puy, another name that's
familiar from a recent recording of one of his operas.

Although this all looks like quite a mish-mash of contributions, the review
in ARG was highly complimentary of the music and performance. Are any of
the list members familiar with either Brendler's music in general or Ryno
in particular?
