Greenwich House Arts Announces Season Three of Women's Work With Concert
Series on March 15, 21 and 29
Greenwich House Arts announces season three of Women's Work, a series
co-produced by Greenwich House Arts and New York Women Composers, Inc.
The three-concert series, hosted by composer Beth Anderson features
recent works by living women composers. Performances will take place
on March 15, 21 and 29 - 8 PM each evening. All performances will be
held in the Renee Weiler Concert Hall at Greenwich House Music School,
46 Barrow Street, New York City (between Seventh Avenue South and Bedford
St.).
Women's Work 2006 commences on Wednesday, March 15 with The Nietzsche
Ensemble (Iris Chen, piano; Patrick Durek, guitar; Nicholas Hay, baritone;
and Yen Yu, violin) presenting a concert of new music by American women
composers for ensemble members in various solo/duo combinations and the
premiere of a newly commissioned piece for baritone and guitar by Beata
Moon, a member of New York Women Composers, Inc. The featured composers
Faye-Ellen Silverman, Joyce Hope Suskind, Joelle Wallach, Mira J. Spektor,
Joyce Ellin Orenstein, Beata Moon, Josef Hauer (1883-1959), Chen Yi, and
Maurice Ravel (1875-1937).
Admission to this and all three Women's Work concerts is $15 general,

Women's Work continues on Tuesday, March 21 at 8pm with Quintet of The
Americas (Sato Moughalian, flute; Matthew Sullivan, oboe; Edward R.
Gilmore, clarinet, bass clarinet; Barbara Oldham, horn; and Laura Koepke,
bassoon). The ensemble will perform works by American women composers
for woodwind quintet, including Beth Anderson's August Swale (1992, rev.
2003), Julia Wolfe's On Seven-Star-Shoes (1985) and works by Chen Yi,
Beata Moon, Tania Leon and Jennifer Griffith.
The series concludes on Wednesday, March 29 at 8pm with The Silsbee
Project. Performers will be Penney Kimbell, soprano; Donna Schaffer,
soprano; Sarah Meneely-Kyder, Composer/Pianist; and Christopher Oldfather,
piano.

concert music or are women in musical occupations who support the composers
