Beethoven's Hammerklavier Sonata, Adagio
Schubert's Unfinished Symphony
Schumann's Second Symphony, Adagio
"Das Abschied" from Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde

"Why" is harder but these pieces seem to express grief, longing, loss
or regret; and hearing them seems to intensify such feelings if you have
them.
