Sounds similar to the approach that Raymond Leppard took when he signed
on as director of the Indianapolis Symphony.  He was quoted in one of the
music magazines as saying that playing Haydn symphonies was a way to renew
and hone their sense of ensemble.

The side benefit was that this would provide the Indy audiences musical
works whose language they could enjoy, yet also become acquainted with--
Haydn still being somewhat underrepresented these days.
