Oh, that happens all the time! Or worse yet, because it fragments my
attention, I might be listening to a symphony by one composer and hear
something that makes me think of another piece or composer but I can't
remember which piece.  That drives me mad!

That's really what I meant by 'sticky' piece. It happens most often the
way Steve Schwartz just mentioned, when I almost but not-quite have the
whole passage in my head and I need to hear it till I can get it right.

Fortunately my husband has a good musical memory too, so we can generally
figure out what it is ... or I call my daughter on the phone and sing
to her.
