Peter Goldstein asks:

>Does anyone have an opinion on the Kronos Quartet recording of the
>Schnittke String Quartets? Any other recordings you'd recommend? Thanks!

I don't know their Schnittke String Quartets but at the moment I am
listening intensely to their CD "Early Morning", a strange, unsettling,
sad and highly interesting compilation of very early and very modern
pieces, all sad and depressive. The highlight of the CD is an intensely
sad and disconsolate string quartet piece by Schnittke called "Collected
Songs Where Every Verse is Filled with Grief". Very very touching.
