Strangely I like the first and fourth better than the second and third.
They are, to my mind, nearly perfect compositions, especially the fourth,
my favourite. The first suffers from a shorter third movement than I would
have liked it to be. The fourth's structure is wonderful, and I speak of
it with only admiration and awe. The chaconne is indeed a fascinating
movement, and I find it brilliant. Are there similar movements in
symphonic writing?
