Choral and Concert Band Music of Judith Lang Zaimont to Be Performed in
Oregon and Arizona on October 27 and 28

New York, NY - On Saturday, October 27 at 7:30 PM and Sunday, October
28 at 2:30 PM, the Portland Symphony Choir, Stephen Zopfi, Artistic
Director, will present the World Premiere performances of Ms. Zaimont's
Remembrance as part of their Psalms and Meditations concerts, presented
at Congregation Beth Israel, NW 19th and Flanders in Portland, Oregon.
Other works on the program are Bernstein's Chichester Psalms, Talmud
Suite by Robinovitch and I never saw another butterfly by Hardyk.

The new 23-minute Remembrance is in four movements and is scored for
soprano, mezzo and tenor soli, SATB choir, cor anglais, cello, organ and
percussion. The texts were devised/assembled by the composer and were
drawn from sources in various traditions.

Tickets for the October 27 and 28 concerts are $25 and $20 and are
available at 503-223-1217 or online at http://www.pschoir.org/store.html.

Also on October 28 at 3 PM, Ms. Zaimont's Israeli Rhapsody for concert
band will be given its Arizona Premiere by the University of Arizona
Concert Band, Dr. Gregg Hansen, conductor at Crowder Hall of the
University's Music Building, 1017 N Olive Road in Tucson, Arizona. Also
on the program will be Virgil Thomson's "A Solemn Music," a transcription
of Handel's "Water Music Suite," and the "Profanation" from Leonard
Bernstein's Jeremiah Symphony.

Of Israeli Rhapsody, Judith Lang Zaimont wrote that she is 'paying
tribute to the complicated, thoughtful and joyous aspects that come
together and do indeed characterize the people who flourish in that
dramatic land.' Fragments of well-known Israeli melodies flow through
the complex piece, which ends clearly as a joyful dance.

This concert is free and open to the public. For more information,
