I would have thought Goerne's a very good Winterreise but he has the bad
luck to be a contemporary of Quasthoff who is superior in every aspect.
Indeed, as I read somewhere the other day, the arrival of Quasthoff reminds
one of FiDi's sudden presence: as Gerald Moore said: "After a few bars I
knew I was in the presence of a master".  Go for the Quasthoff, it's right
up there with the very best.
