I must correct myself, I said Sheila Armstrong was in Britten's recording
and I meant to say Yvonne Minton. Sorry. Everyone keeps praising the
Boult recording with Gedda, but I just can't concur. I love Gedda as a
singer, but he just doesn't get this part and he does not sing with the
devotion and passion that this work needs. I bought it once, but was very
disapointed with it and hardly every listened to it before it went to the
used shop.
