I hope my fellow subscribers, most of whom seem to have a nearly complete
knowledge of classical music, still have those wonderful discovery moments
- moments when they hear something wonderful on the radio or in the concert
hall for the very first time. For me, there are certainly two sides to the
classical music listening coin: repeated listening to a piece of music in
which I gain a deeper understanding and familiarity with what is going on
in the piece and the initial listening to something that I have never heard
before.

Driving home tonight, I heard Philip Glass's Violin Concerto for the first
time. It was just a first listen, but I was really intrigued by the piece.
Oh learned colleagues, how is this piece rated? any particular performance
recommended?

Although I don't have a strong bias against modern music, I was surprised
by how much I liked this piece.
