Dear All, I've listened to bits of the Tintner/Schubert CD on the Naxos
website. Was fairly impressed but I do not like Schubert's 9th.

The series does seem like an opportunity to have a Tintner recording of
Bruckner's 8th in the Haas or Nowak editions. The Naxos/Tintner 8 is
the ineteresting but flawed orgininal version and the Irish orchestra,
as recorded, lacks weight of tone.

Perhaps there is a good live version? Tintner must have performed this
with the NZSO (an orchestra noted for its Germanic, dark & layered sound)
and Radio NZ recordings are usually very good. Or perhaps there is a
radio recording with the RSNO?
