Don Satz, Jon Gallant and others bemoan the offerings of 'commercial'
radio stations of classical music. At least we, in Canada, have our
beloved Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, CBC, which sets an excellent
example, particularly on its Radio II network in both English and French.
The English network has the incomparable Shelagh Rogers, who host her Take
Five programme from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each weekday. [not every Canadian
would agree with this, as the CBC is publicly funded.] I'll gladly pay
taxes not to listen to commercials. Shelagh plays listeners' requests and
features a taped, live concert by various Canadian symphony orchestras.

Those who think the state has no role to play in culture should listen to
CBC II for awhile.

Kindest regards,
