Excellent stuff.  You had the advantage over Babbitt in that you got to
title your article yourself.  I disagree on only one minor point.  that of
Carter trying to notate in every detail.  I have found, in the pieces I
have performed or prepared, that there is a great deal of freedom in the
notation.  Aside from that small quibble, your point is very well taken.
