Joseph Schwantner is a New York-state based composer who was for several
years composer-in-residence for the St. Louis Symphony. He is reputedly
another composer who went through a serial phase and then back to tonality.
I haven't found his music overly inspiring--his percussion concerto recalls
high school jazz band music. His marimba toccata (whose name I cannot
recall) is pleasant to listen to but doesn't give much staying power.
