Canta Libre was founded in 2002 by flutist Sally Shorrock to foster the
performance and enjoyment of musical literature specifically written for
flute, harp and strings. They have been acclaimed by audiences throughout
the Northeast, with regular performances in Connecticut, Westchester and
Long Island. They appear at the Music Festival of the Hamptons as well
as Bargemusic. Trained at the finest conservatories both here and abroad,
many of the musicians have performed and toured internationally with
appearances at major festivals, including Aspen, Spoleto and Tanglewood.

The Salmagundi Club, originating in 1871 as a sketch class in Johnathan
Scott Hartley's studio and purchased this mid-nineteenth century brownstone
house in 1917 as its second home. It was cited in 1957 for its architectural
distinction by the Society of Architectural Historians and the Municipal
Art Society. Following a tradition of 137 years, the Salmagundi Club
continues to serve as a center for fine artists from New York and around
the country-providing exhibitions of paintings, sculpture and photography,
conducting art classes and painting demonstrations and art auctions
