Dan Locklair's "In the Autumn Days"- To Be Presented By Lake Superior
Chamber Orchestra On June 24 - Concert To Be Conducted by Warren Friesen

Dan Locklair's "In the Autumn Days" - A Symphony for Chamber Orchestra
will be performed by the Lake Superior Chamber Orchestra, Warren
Friesen, Music Director and Conductor, on June 24 at the Weber Music
Hall, 1151University Drive on the campus of the University of Minnesota
in Duluth. The concert will also feature Beethoven's Symphony No. 1,
Bach's Violin Concerto No. 1 in A Minor, BMV 1041, Peter McGuire, violin
soloist, Sibelius' Romance in C and Saint-Saens' "Introduction and Rondo
Capriccioso".

Tickets for this concert are $15, with discounts for students and

The Lake Superior Chamber Orchestra presents five Wednesday evening
concerts in June and July every Summer. They have consistently
challenged and delighted audiences with its broad range of programming,
provided a venue for local composers and soloists to be heard and
encouraged the development of a new classical music audience by
providing low priced tickets for students and encouraging family

Internationally recognized American composer Dan Locklair, a native
of Charlotte, NC, is Composer-in-Residence at Wake Forest University in
Winston-Salem, NC.  His compositional output, influenced by a wide variety
of traditions, ranging from Medieval to modern music, includes symphonic
works, a ballet, an opera, and numerous solo, chamber, vocal, organ and
choral compositions.  His music has been performed throughout Europe and
North America by many major orchestras, choral groups, chamber ensembles
and soloists.  Several of these works have received major awards, including
the 1989 Barlow International Competition Award for "changing perceptions
& Epitaph" and the 1996 American Guild of Organists Composer of the Year
Award.  Among his other honors are consecutive ASCAP Awards since 1981
and a Kennedy Center Friedheim Award.
