If you like Poulenc's Organ Concerto, (I'm assuming most are quite
familiar with it), There is a Linn recording of the above which comes
with another substantial piece in a similar vein--the Pierre Petit
(1922-2000) "Concertino" for Organ, Strings, and Percussion. It has the
same tartness, catchy rhythmic tattoos, and idiosyncratic melodies as
the Poulenc, but not at all derivative. As a bonus, you'll get Barber's
spectacular Toccata Festiva to round out the program, grandly paced, and
stunningly recorded.

Gillian Weir plays the organ at St. Augustine's Chapel, Tonbridge School.
David Hill and Raymond Leppard conduct the ECO. The recording is available
in both 16-bit CD and SACD hybrid. (Annoyingly I had to order this, and
most of the other latest and greatest SACDs, thru Amazon UK. Why the
US release delay, I have no idea.)
