I understand Steve's view on the unhealthy situation, but I don't see
anything abnormal about it.  Recorded technology has been with us for such
a long time that most of us likely can't remember the lack of it.  I just
look at it as an evolution.

Bernard's comment is right on the money.  I consider myself fortunate to
live with recorded technology.  Without it, I'd have to always be with
people in order to get my musical fix.  I'm with folks all day; I think
that's enough.  Also, much of the music I listen to wouldn't see the light
of day in my ear drums even if I went to every live performance in New
Mexico.  So I'll gladly take the "present" and look forward to more
advanced technology in the future.
