Some of you may know the name of Kent Kennan. Kent passed away on
Saturday morning. He was 90. His texts on Counterpoint and Orchestration
are used world wide. Best remembered for his Night Soliloquy for Flute
and Piano (also in arrangement for other instrumental combinations) and
his Trumpet Sonata, he also wrote several other works including a Symphony,
Piano Quintet, Violin Sonata, Andante for Viola and Orchestra, Dance
Divertimento (which included his well known Promenade) as well as songs,
works for piano and choral works.

His last year was marked with a performance of the slow movement of his
Symphony (not done since 1939), and first recordings of several of his
works, the Piano Quintet and Violin Sonata, etc. We are currently in
the process of preparing a second disc of his music. The first should
be available this next month.
