Sadly the window where I read messages does not show the full footers without scrolling and so I never see the link about guidelines.  But the other point of course is that even if I  could see it I probably not read it since when I read a message I am not thinking about writing.  

Can the link not be put on a page where you will see it when you open up a window to post?  For example on this very window where I type now there is a huge chunk of empty space to the right of the address and  title information (perhaps this cannot be customised by the administrator though)?  Perhaps there are other places as well.

I was  a little surprised to read guideline #2 which says no html ... text only.  I know this was common practice on some lists five or more years ago but I thought that it was  now no longer deemed necessary since both client and server software can support html on mailing lists.

Pity that guideline #11 does not say something like ....  When making complex posts, please define your terms at least once" and then I might understand some of the threads.
