I don’t understand what the mystery is?
A swarm or package are known to leave a box they are placed, if they are
not ‘forced’ to stay.

In my observations, there seems to be a window of about 3 days in which a
swarm may decide for any reason to leave a void is has just entered. Many
of my swarm calls this season have been to swarms that have just entered a
structure. If I can figure a way to cause them abscond during this
critical window of 3 days or so, this can be greatly beneficial to the
bee removal business.
