The French National Agency for Food Safety, Environment, and Labour is examining draft legislation about the mention ‘GM Free’. The draft suggests that if a distance of three kilometres is respected all would be fine but the Scientific Committee of the High Council in Biotechnology (HCB), has pointed out that this is not based on scientific evidence and that 10 km would be better. Current regulations fix the distance for ‘bio’ at 3 km so to be logical there will have to be some common distance for both. Whatever the distance in the final draft testing will not be required.

Chris says that clear honey is suspect but my sweet chestnut honey is certainly clear when bottled and it is not pressure filtered or in anyway heated.
Bob Harrison suggests that to empty honey from the drums they must be heated and that “flash heating” is also used. I can only state that this would be illegal and that I would hope European honey producers and distributers are not as corrupt as our politicians.
