It would seem that there are two relationships of Varroa to virus infection,
namely the vector role and the hemolymph depletion role. Viruses are not
likely spread by fomites like comb and honey.

But there are other features particularly regarding dead outs, that they are
often blamed on virus infection and the colony seems to die abruptly,
leaving cups of dead bees. - wouldn't the astute beekeeper see sick bees
prior to death? How helpful is it for diagnosis, to look for DWV bees,
short abdomens, hair loss/shiny or erratic behavior?
