Been using it for years and just leave it on the hive all year. It is over
the inner cover and below the outer cover on a "standard" configuration
(recognizing there is not such thing as standard in beekeeping). Also has a
notch that goes from the inner cover opening to the front,

It does last. I still have some that have never been used from the 4x8 sheet
I cut up.
