I have a friend whose colony went 8 years with the box never going empty of
bees and only supercedure or swarming as queen replacement. The colony was
started with a package from GA. The human interference was, mite
treatments, feeding (always sugar), and honey supers on and off. The hive
was moved to a friends backyard in it's 8th year, she had surgery so didn't
tend it the same as she had in the past and the colony died last winter.
