Interesting to me is that uncapping/recapping is the only trait known that is common to all studied resistant populations:

And it seems the more we pick at VSH, the more questions we have- if we perform a Harbo Assay, how do we discriminate between Brood Effects and Hygiene function?

It seems plan that uncapping/recapping is a hygiene function devoid of removal of the pupae. If this is marginally effective in support of Brood Effects, it would likely represent a less-costly investment than VSH.
