Question:  If you took a hive of the more prolific bees and moved it to a new location within a couple hundred yards, would the nurse bees and house bees that remained with the hive be sufficient to carry through the winter at a reduced population number and thus need less in the way of stores for the winter?  The field bees, those with a short remaining life span and not raised as worker bees to carry through the winter would return to the old location and thus not be a liability to the overwintering hive.  Just a thought that came to mind when reading the post referenced above.
