What I have wondered about. 

 I have a number of new hives in singles on drawn comb.

Only on about five frames now. Started about three weeks ago.

I have a holding yard we had SHb problems with splits made last August I want to use..

I think if I pull all drawn frames not covered by bees now and place frames of foundation might be the best way
to keep down a SHB problem but not what I would like to do..

We were feeding pollen patties to the splits last year in August  and beetles kept laying eggs in patties.

last  year I pulled hives from the yard and we have had temps down to 10 below zero.

Not sure the temps SHB can survive without a hive to winter in?

I have not saw SHb problems in early spring in Missouri before but temps are going into mid seventies for the next week

My guess is a bit early for serious SHB egg laying in Missouri. Wax moths are not bothering setups for next week sitting outside  and no beetles seen yet in boxes.
