I won't argue with Dee's success, but I have my doubts that shipping her
queens here, even following her practices, would duplicate her success.  I
imagine you would have a much better chance moving to the desert buying her
queens and mimicking her practices.  I haven't given up yet, next year I'm
starting a new yard with Russians.

BTW: I tried some Texas bees a couple years ago, meanest bees I've ever
encountered.  Don't care if they were African or not, couldn't get within
100yds of them without a veil, got tired of being stung in the head working
in the garden.  I realize you can get mean bees from anywhere, but I've
never seen anything that mean.  I asked around for other people's
experiences before I decided I wouldn't buy there again (supplier not
Texas).

I always try to get by with as few chemicals as possible, but this year I
erred on the side of too few (or at least too late) and lost some because
of it.  Hopefully next year I'll be able to keep closer track (no thesis to
write this time thank heavens).
