It must be at least 2 years since I last lit a smoker!  OK, I usually use a sprayer with 'liquid smoke' with my vertical  hives, but, as often as not, nothing at all with my top bar hives as, worked gently, they don't know you're there.  I did, however, cadge a cigarette from a  spectator last year in order to steal a frame of honey from a National hive as a present for a lass to take back to Ireland as I'd gone to the apiary unprepared.
