This hive, like the rest of the items in the collection shown, is a
conceptual design sketch.  It's not intended to be a prototype, let alone
an actual product, and the images are either photoshopped or entirely
computer generated.

Unfortunately they didn't do their research very well..."pull string for
smoke"?

A little more realistically, how about the idea of designing homes with
accessible eaves or other attractive hollow areas intended as swarm traps?
