I had one year where I experienced this in September
when I went to remove honey. The hive was very
populous but I noticed hundreds of bees either dead or
crawling about in the grass. I picked up a drone and
four varroa crawled off onto my fingertips. I treated
them with Apistan that day, and they survived.
