I suspect you didn't have enough OA to work. I have treated nucs for several years using a full dose. They don't die and I've never seen any brood damage [I looked pretty hard for the first couple of years]. there are lots of anecdotal reports that it's pretty hard to overdose with OA. I used a triple dose on a 2 box hive and had no bad results.
