I think that your idea is a great one, but I'm not an expert on the subject.
However, I do know about the propolization issue.  They will fill it up and
so it will be necessary to watch it and clean it out, when it gets clogged.
This could become a nuisance, over time, but otherwise, it sounds good.  Way
to go!
