I agree.  I had several long conversations with McGregor when I  was 
starting out in bee research - he'd shudder at the misquotes and misuse  of his 
work.
 
There are two points:
1) He didn't say what most people think he said, and
2) In the US, our diet has changed dramatically since 1976.
