Funny you should mention those years. That is the topic of my talk this Friday afternoon in Syracuse, NY., -- and an upcoming article in the American Bee Journal. It is aptly titled "The Golden Age of Beekeeping." 

There actually was a period where beekeepers were the most prosperous folks on the block. These days, the expression goes: "If you want to make money from beekeeping, sell stuff to beekeepers."
