Jobs cut in Asian bee eradication program

However Maurie Damon, president of the Cairns and District Beekeepers
Association, says he's worried the pest could spread further now.

"Things can only get worse because they won't have the opportunity to
eradicate the problem," he said.

"They'll be monitoring, and they'll probably be controlling the reported
sightings, but they won't be able to go out and eradicate this apis cerana
problem."
