A few years ago I got 'tennis elbow' (a form of arthritis) after some
energetic gardening. I had had it before and so recognised it. On the
previous occasion it had lasted for months and I had to wear a clasp
around the arm supposedly to ease the tendon but it didn't have much
effect. Eventually the doctor gave me a painful cortisone injection
which did the trick.

The second time, as soon as I could, I went to a beehive, obtained a
worker and applied the sharp end to the painful point of the elbow. I
kept it there for a full 2 minutes so as to obtain the maximum dose of
venom. It was painful and the joint reddened and swelled a little for a
couple of days, but when it had gone, so was the tennnis elbow, and it
didn't come back.
