>How do you know the starting counts?

As you know, I favor alcohol wash of ~300 bees taken from a brood frame.
Any test of efficacy must be taken no sooner than 12 days after treatment,
to allow at least one complete mite cycle in the brood. Better if a series
of measurements are taken over a longer period in order to detect trends.
