Harry says, "My plan is to freeze the rings than scrape them."

This should make it easy to remove most of the propolis.  However, it will
be important they you break off the propolis while it is frozen.  I think
you will find the propolis is more easily removed by hand than by scraping.
I also suggest you only take 3-4 out of the freezer bag at one time so the
others do not start to come to room temperature.

Whatever, do not  put in hot water as the rings will turn to spaghetti.
