I am going to make up some thymol in solution and wonder if gin would be
alright as a solvent. Ethanol is called for and the easiest way to get it
is vodka, but would gin do?

Actually, I am serious.

Most ethanol you run into in drug stores is denatured, which is bad for
humans and would expect the same for bees.
