I keep bees in Brooklyn Ny. Lately, the neioghborhood has been plagued by honeybees that buzz around like yellow-jackets and seem to have no goal in mind. Just this morning I got a brief glimpse of one who settled down for a second and i thought I saw the characteristic bulging eyes of a drone.
My question is: are the workers already beginning to evict drones from the hive in late August? Is this typical? What is going on?
