That's a good one.  Along those lines there is another quote, often attributed to Twain, who, in turn, erroneously credited Benjamin Disraeli, which is a personal favorite of mine, and which appears to have relevance to many of the discussions that take place here: "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics."  Many years ago in my first college statistics class, the professor had that phrase written on the board, when we filed in for the first day of class.    Left a lasting impression and ever since has colored my reading of everything from polls to newpaper articles to scientific papers.
