I always flame my hive tool in the smoker before opening any hives.   
Having sampled colonies for years, I'm very cautious about spreading  disease.  I 
flame the tool, since alcohol only treats the surface.  I  work bare 
handed, wash my hands with an antiseptic.  I can clean my hands  better than 
gloves, which hold everything.
 
If I have to wear gloves, I go with disposables.   Jerry
