This is a feature, not  a bug and insisting on trying to breed by selection, as many do,  rather than by rejection is doomed to repeated failure. 

Nature's way is better.  Losers are dropped from the gene pool. 

We can accelerate that a bit by removing those we find deficient, but overdoing it will always lead to the same endpoint. 

Knowing that, though, won't stop people from banging their heads against the wall.

Selection is such an attractive shortcut.
