Not true.  Back when Sulfa was available and accepted, that is exactly 
what was recommended: buy a heavily diseased outfit for cheap and clean 
it up with sulfa.  Many of us did just that. It worked very well.

I believe that with Tylosin this is still possible, but riskier inasmuch 
as acceptable levels of drugs are much lower now and detection of 
extremely low levels of drugs is much more advanced. Whereas one part 
per million in honey was acceptable a half-century ago, parts per 
billion of some drugs are cause for complaint and refusal.

It can and has been done, but don't try this at home, kids unless you 
really really know what you are doing.
