Point about older equipment well-taken.  I have a lot of 30+ year old boxes
too and have been switching them out so I have new tight boxes for the
brood chambers.  I was getting poor results from thymol and knew not to try
formic with leaky boxes and screened bottoms.  Tight equipment really
helps, but that is another cost...
